By chance back in middle school, Jake saw the Music Man in a general music class and hasn't been the same since - after hearing the quartet from the musical, he found barbershop and has now been singing and studying it for almost nine years. Since then, Jake has sung in three quartets, and is an active member of two choruses; both in which he holds leadership roles in.
Throughout high school, Jake sang with the chorus Steel City Harmonizers. He continues to sing with them now, known as Vocal Confluence, as a section leader and music team member. Jake competed with them in the Johnny Appleseed 2019 Fall District Chorus Contest. Jake also currently sings tenor with the youth quartet Port Authority. As of December of 2019, Jake was also named artistic director of the Keystone Chorus.
In addition to barbershop, Jake is a senior music education major at Duquesne University. There he has sung in various ensembles including the vocal jazz ensemble, the men’s choral ensemble, choral quartet and the Duquesne audition choir; Voices of Spirit. Jake has also been playing piano since the fifth grade which has led him to play for a jazz combo and an accompanist for various recitals and performances of vocal and instrumental soloists, high school choirs and ragtime. Along with performing, Jake also has been giving private piano lessons and working as a director at a theater in his hometown.
All of these ongoing experiences allow Jake to continue to grow as a director, educator, and performer.
